Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Intern to join the Components and Systems team for Summer 2026. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in component testing, detailed assembly processes, and design reviews while working alongside industry professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects that support our team and company objectives.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with data collection and analysis. Implement SPC on existing processes and develop department BI reports to display data.

• Assist PE with conducting work instruction reviews and implementation of process improvements.

• Identify potential AI based solutions for improved efficiency within the department.

• Other general QA testing and characterization of optical assemblies

• Laser testing of production parts.

• Recording testing results into database.

• Assist in 5S program.

• Work with Oracle.

• Assist in department transfer activities to offshore facilities.

Education & Experience

• Education: Enrolled in a 4-year engineering program.

• Experience: Completion of 1 year towards bachelor's degree.

• Majors: Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or similar)

• Relevant coursework or extracurricular experience in Office 365 and Python is a plus.

• Open to currently enrolled students or those who have graduated within one year of the internship start date.

• Internship Duration: 10 - 14 weeks.

Working Conditions

• This role will be based on-site in Saxonburg Pennsylvania.

• Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary.

• Production floor and lab work as required.

• Some areas involve the handling of finished products requiring strong attention to details.

Physical Requirements

• Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or in meetings.

• Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Safety Requirements
