Description:

CAMP CONNECTIONS THERAPEUTIC GROUP LEADER

JOB SUMMARY:

This position reports to the Connections Camp Site Supervisor and is responsible for overall leadership and guidance of campers within classroom, creating a productive daily schedule that aligns with the mission statement and therapeutic goals of camp, and providing a safe, fun, and productive daily atmosphere for the entire camp experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree, preferred in the field of Psychology, Social Work, Special Education

Experience working with children

Valid driver’s license

Must be at least 18 years of age.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans and develops daily/weekly lesson plans, activities, and field trips that align with the curriculum and provide for comprehensive experiences designed to foster the total growth and development of each child.

Maintains the safety and well being of all campers.

Establishes and implements classroom policies and procedures.

Coordinates and directs classroom staff

Implements and evaluates treatment plans under the direct guidance/supervision of the Site Supervisor and Clinicians.

Collects daily and weekly data on students’ progress towards achievement of treatment plan objectives.

Writes daily progress notes which reflect response to and progress towards established treatment plan goals and objectives.

Attends weekly supervision

Acts as a representative of the Barber National Institute while in the community.

Attends all staff meetings, training sessions, and in-service programs.

Attends mandatory camp orientation.

Establishes working relationships with other multi-disciplinary team members of the Barber National Institute.

Maintains current knowledge of best practices in special education.

Consults daily with the Site Supervisor and Clinicians regarding problematic issues.


OTHER:

Is aware that duties may be added or deleted from the position as deemed necessary by the Director.

Demonstrates knowledge of fire and emergency evacuation procedures and equipment.

Understands that added work or irregular hours may be required due to government agencies or funding source requests for special assignments.

Understands that other duties and assignments may be added or deleted as necessary due to funding requirements or regulations.
