Position Overview

We are hiring for one of our clients, a major North American manufacturer of essential cement, construction aggregate, and infrastructure materials.

We are seeking a Quality Control Technician to support quality assurance operations at our Whitehall cement facility. This role rotates on a week-by-week basis across three core functions: chemical laboratory testing, physical laboratory testing, and production shift control. You will be responsible for reliable and accurate testing of plant raw materials, feed streams, and finished cement products to ensure full compliance with quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Testing & Analysis: Analyze material samples to determine chemical and physical properties using analytical laboratory instruments to ensure conformity to required standards.

  • Data Management & Reporting: Accurately record, review, and report test results using internal databases, spreadsheets, and digital communication tools.

  • Production & Sales Support: Collaborate with production and sales personnel to resolve customer service issues, troubleshoot quality variations, and maintain product consistency.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate physical/chemical laboratory testing equipment (scales, compression machines, sieve shakers, ovens, aggregate splitters, and decant machines).

  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to plant health, safety, and environmental policies, promoting a culture of safety across all work environments.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.

  • 0 – 2 years of quality control or industrial laboratory experience.

Technical & Professional Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and data entry systems; experience with SAP is a plus.

  • Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Valid driver's license (position may require driving a plant vehicle).

Physical Demands & Safety Requirements:

  • Ability to operate laboratory testing machinery and carry physical material samples.

  • PPE & Respiratory Safety: Candidates must adhere to all safety protocols, including proper fit and use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators. Where tight-fitting respirators are required for safety compliance, candidates must be able to achieve a proper seal under regulatory fit-testing standards (OSHA/MSHA). Reasonable accommodations will be evaluated in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
