Position Overview

As Executive Sous Chef at QT Queenstown, you’ll be the engine behind the kitchen — driving standards, leading the brigade and delivering exceptional food across all outlets. From high-energy service to refined dining, you’ll ensure every plate leaving the pass is on point, every time.

Working closely with the Executive Chef, you’ll take ownership of day-to-day kitchen operations, champion consistency and inspire your team to deliver bold, memorable dining experiences — QT style.

This is a permanent full-time position with a minimum guaranteed hours of 40 per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily kitchen operations, ensuring seamless, high-quality food production across all outlets.
  • Maintain and approve the quality, consistency and presentation of all dishes leaving the kitchen.
  • Drive food cost control, stock management and labour efficiency to meet budget targets.
  • Train, mentor and develop chefs, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team culture.
  • Ensure all food safety, hygiene and WH& S standards are met and consistently maintained.
  • Collaborate with F& B and Events teams to deliver exceptional dining and event experiences.

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience as a Chef.
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Executive Sous Chef in a high-volume, premium environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop a team.
  • Exceptional culinary knowledge with a passion for quality, creativity and consistency.
  • Solid understanding of food cost control, rostering and kitchen financials.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining high standards.
  • A hands-on approach and commitment to leading from the front.
