Medication Technician - Memory Care Columbia Place Assisted Living and Memory Care | Columbia, SC

Medication Technician to join our Memory Care team and help deliver compassionate, high-quality care to our residents.
Position Summary: As a Medication Technician, you will safely administer and document prescribed medications, observe residents for side effects, and support compliance with medication protocols. You'll work closely with nursing staff, physicians, and pharmacists to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our residents in a respectful and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Administer oral and topical medications according to physician orders and facility policy
- Observe and report resident reactions, refusals, and errors in medication administration
- Accurately document medication administration and assist with maintaining resident records
- Follow procedures for receiving, storing, labeling, and disposing of medications
- Report medication issues or resident concerns to the Director of Nursing
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and facility inspections
- Support interdisciplinary collaboration with nursing staff, physicians, and pharmacists
- Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and protect resident confidentiality
- Assist residents in accordance with care plans and self-administration policies
- Stay current with professional training and required certifications
Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must hold a valid Medication Aide certification per state requirements
- Ability to read and interpret medical instructions and regulations
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Basic math and computer proficiency
- Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented
Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Prolonged standing, walking, and use of computer systems
- May require assistance in resident evacuations during emergencies
Work Environment: - Calm, supportive setting with moderate noise levels
