Columbia Place Assisted Living & Memory Care is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented
Medication Technician to join our nursing team. This role is critical to ensuring our residents receive medications safely, accurately, and in accordance with physician orders and state regulations.

Position OverviewThe Medication Technician is responsible for the safe preparation, administration, and documentation of medications while following all facility policies and state guidelines. This position works closely with nursing leadership, physicians, pharmacists, and caregiving staff to maintain a safe and compliant medication system.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately prepare, administer, and document oral and topical medications
- Verify resident identity prior to medication administration
- Observe and confirm medications are ingested or applied as directed
- Document refusals and promptly report medication errors or adverse reactions
- Accurately measure, record, and report vital signs
- Follow proper medication labeling, storage, and destruction procedures
- Complete required documentation, reports, and medication records
- Assist with identifying and reporting medication errors and participate in prevention efforts
- Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, pharmacists, and team members
- Maintain strict resident confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
- Participate in Quality Assurance and facility compliance programs
- Support state surveys and regulatory inspections as needed
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current state-approved Medication Aide certification (required)
- Ability to read and interpret physician orders and medical documentation
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Commitment to resident safety and teamwork
Physical Requirements- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the shift
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
- Ability to respond during emergency situations, including assisting with resident evacuation if necessary
