Description:
About the RoleWe are seeking a dependable and motivated
Dietary Aide to join our dietary team. The Dietary Aide supports kitchen operations by assisting with meal preparation, serving, cleaning, and maintaining a sanitary work environment. This role is essential to ensuring our residents receive nutritious, well-prepared meals in a clean and welcoming environment.
You'll work under the supervision of the Cook and Dietary Supervisor and play a key role in supporting the daily food service routine.
Responsibilities- Set up meal trays and assist with serving meals
- Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Strip down returned trays and operate the dishwasher
- Check and record dishwasher water temperature and chlorine concentration at the beginning of each shift
- Prepare snacks and nourishments as needed
- Sweep, mop, and maintain kitchen floors
- Carry out trash and maintain a clean, organized kitchen
- Store groceries safely and neatly
- Clean work surfaces, refrigerators, and other kitchen areas
- Assist the cook or dietary supervisor when needed
- Participate in ongoing training and orientation for dietary staff
- Maintain positive communication and teamwork with all departments
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to read and follow recipes and technical procedures
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math skills (fractions, percentages, ratios)
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's Certificate (can be obtained after hire)
Physical Requirements- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50 lbs)
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching
- Must have good hearing, vision, and manual dexterity
- Comfortable working around food, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipment
Work Environment- Generally low to moderate noise levels
- Must be able to work safely around hot surfaces and sharp utensils
