About the Role

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Dietary Aide to join our dietary team. The Dietary Aide supports kitchen operations by assisting with meal preparation, serving, cleaning, and maintaining a sanitary work environment. This role is essential to ensuring our residents receive nutritious, well-prepared meals in a clean and welcoming environment.

You'll work under the supervision of the Cook and Dietary Supervisor and play a key role in supporting the daily food service routine.

Responsibilities
  • Set up meal trays and assist with serving meals
  • Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  • Strip down returned trays and operate the dishwasher
  • Check and record dishwasher water temperature and chlorine concentration at the beginning of each shift
  • Prepare snacks and nourishments as needed
  • Sweep, mop, and maintain kitchen floors
  • Carry out trash and maintain a clean, organized kitchen
  • Store groceries safely and neatly
  • Clean work surfaces, refrigerators, and other kitchen areas
  • Assist the cook or dietary supervisor when needed
  • Participate in ongoing training and orientation for dietary staff
  • Maintain positive communication and teamwork with all departments

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and technical procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic math skills (fractions, percentages, ratios)
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's Certificate (can be obtained after hire)

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50 lbs)
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Must have good hearing, vision, and manual dexterity
  • Comfortable working around food, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipment

Work Environment
  • Generally low to moderate noise levels
  • Must be able to work safely around hot surfaces and sharp utensils
