Dietary Aide Job Description

General Purpose:
The Dietary Aide is responsible for supporting food service operations, ensuring meal preparation and delivery, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment. This role reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor and adapts to the needs of the shift. We are seeking an individual who will contribute positively to our team culture.

Essential Duties:

• Learn food service routine quickly.
• Set up meal trays and assist with meal service.
• Strip and wash returned trays and dishes.
• Operate the dishwasher, ensuring proper chlorine concentration and water temperature.
• Prepare snacks and nourishments.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain kitchen cleanliness.
• Dispose of trash and store groceries safely.
• Clean work surfaces, refrigerators, and maintain kitchen hygiene.
• Assist with training and orienting new dietary staff.
• Cooperate with all departments to promote a positive work environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.

Qualifications:

• Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Language Skills: Ability to read and follow technical procedures and recipes; communicate effectively with managers and staff.
• Mathematical Skills: Apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical tasks.
• Reasoning Ability: Solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
• Certifications: Must obtain and maintain a food handler's certificate.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling, talking, and hearing.
• Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to see clearly at various distances and adjust focus.

Work Environment:

• Low to moderate noise levels in the kitchen environment.
