Department: Engineering + Maintenance

Learn How Engineering Supports Safe, Sustainable Food Manufacturing

At Reser’s Fine Foods, engineering goes beyond production—it supports the systems that protect our people, our products, and our communities. From wastewater treatment to facility controls, these behind-the-scenes systems are essential to how we operate responsibly every day.

This entry-level internship is designed for students interested in engineering, utilities, or industrial systems who want hands-on exposure to environmental compliance, maintenance collaboration, and continuous improvement in a real manufacturing setting.

What You’ll Be Working On:

Utilities & Wastewater Operations (Hands-On Learning)

  • Assist with operating, inspecting, and monitoring wastewater treatment equipment under supervision
  • Support collection of wastewater data, samples, and basic laboratory testing
  • Learn how facility controls are adjusted to maintain required operating standards
  • Observe and assist with odor control system operations

Engineering & Improvement Projects

  • Support special projects to identify improvement needs and ideas to return systems to base condition
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager to help identify site improvement opportunities and understand how funding requests are developed

Partner with the Engineering Team

  • Review control system monitoring needs
  • Identify potential system improvements
  • Learn how capital improvement requests are evaluated and submitted

Safety, Compliance & Documentation

  • Learn how environmental permits, SOPs, and emergency plans are followed
  • Assist with ensuring monitoring requirements align with regulatory standards
  • Gain exposure to state and federal environmental compliance requirements

This role is built for learning—you’ll be guided, supported, and mentored while gaining real-world experience in systems most people never see but every facility relies on.

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • Entry-level exposure to engineering and utilities in food manufacturing
  • Hands-on learning in wastewater treatment and facility systems
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations
  • Insight into how improvement ideas turn into funded projects
  • A supportive, inclusive culture that values curiosity and growth

What You Bring to the Team

  • Currently pursuing (or recently completed) coursework in Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Technology, Utilities, or a related field
  • Interest in systems, infrastructure, and environmental operations
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and work safely
  • Attention to detail and a responsible, team-oriented mindset
  • Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor industrial environments

This is an entry-level internship—prior wastewater experience or certifications are not required.
