Title: CHEP Pallet Asset Control Analyst
Location: Distribution Center
Reports to: DC Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary:
The Pallet Asset Control Analyst is responsible for managing, tracking, and reconciling reusable shipping assets, primarily CHEP pallets, within both the plant and distribution center locations. This role ensures accurate pallet balances, minimizes loss, controls rental expense, and supports operational compliance across manufacturing plants, DCs, carriers, customers, and CHEP. This position partners closely with DC Operations, Finance, Transportation, and CHEP to maintain asset integrity, ensure optimal supply, and minimize costs (fees and fines) while supporting high-volume food distribution to retail and club stores.
Essential Position Functions:
• Maintain accurate accountability of pallet inventory across inbound, outbound, transfers, and returns. Monitor activity and ensure compliance with SOPs and the contract.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly pallet reconciliation by location.
• Investigate pallet shortages, overages, and discrepancies; identify root causes and corrective actions. Provide management with analysis and details to support optimal tactics.
• Serve as primary company contact for pallet audits, disputes, and balance confirmations.
• Review and validate vendor invoices, rental charges, and adjustments.
• Partner with Finance to support pallet-related accruals and month-end inventory and close.
• Analyze pallet loss trends and recommend actions to reduce exposure and cost.
• Track pallet cost per load / per case metrics for DC leadership.
• Partner with DCs and Plants to ensure proper and timely transaction execution and data integrity.
• Support compliance with Reser’s pallet program rules and customer pallet requirements.
• Coordinate pallet logistics with carriers, customers, and Reser’s logistics (SoCal Transport).
• Assist in training DC teams on pallet processes and asset management accountability.
• Prepare weekly pallet balance and loss reporting for corporate leadership.
• Monitor dwell time, recovery cycle time, and asset utilization, pallet costs.
• Identify process improvement opportunities related to pallet management integrity.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business Administration, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in asset control, inventory management, logistics, or distribution.
• Direct experience working with CHEP pallets.
• Experience working with or within plants or warehouses in high-volume distribution environments.
• Experience in food or CPG manufacturing and distribution companies.
• Familiarity with ERP and WMS systems.
• Prior exposure to DC-level financial or asset/inventory reconciliation.
• Experience supporting audits or vendor disputes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation analysis).
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
• Corporate offices, distribution center offices.
• Exposure to cold temperatures and warehouse operations.
• Regular interaction with DC floor teams and external vendors.
• 20% travel time.
Exempt only: This position is eligible for a bonus based on company goals/performance.
