Description:
This is a Full Time Position, 3 days a week, 12 hour shifts, 6am-6: 30pm. We are looking for either an LPN or CMA.Wage range depends on licensure and years of experience:
CMA: $25.13-$30.13
LPN: $35-$45
Primary Responsibilities- Administer medications to residents in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
- Accurately prepare, administer, and document oral and/or topical medications as prescribed.
- Observe and verify that medications are ingested or applied as directed.
- Promptly report medication errors, adverse reactions, or refusals to the Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, or Director of Nursing Services.
- Verify resident identity prior to administering medications.
- Maintain accurate documentation for medication administration, refusals, and discontinued medications.
- Ensure all medications are properly labeled and stored according to facility policy.
- Assist in the destruction of medications per facility procedures and under appropriate supervision.
- Participate in the development and implementation of medication error prevention programs.
- Follow procedures for drug receipt errors and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
Administrative Duties- Complete and submit required forms, charts, and reports.
- Assist in documenting and removing discontinued medications.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information (PHI).
- Report any known or suspected unauthorized access to the facility's information systems.
Collaboration & Communication- Maintain a professional and cooperative relationship with nursing staff, physicians, the Medical Director, and pharmacists.
- Report resident complaints or grievances to the Director of Nursing Services.
- Cooperate with interdepartmental personnel to ensure quality nursing services.
- Participate in facility surveys and inspections as requested.
Committee Participation- Engage in Quality Assurance programs and relevant facility committees such as the Pharmaceutical Services Committee.
Resident Support- Accurately measure, record, and report residents' vital signs.
- Follow procedures for residents who self-administer medications.
- Assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies.
Professional Development- Attend continuing education programs to stay current in the field and maintain certification.
- Understand and use common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terminology related to medication administration.
QualificationsEducation & Experience- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licensure- Must be a licensed Medication Aide with successful completion of a state-approved training program and examination(s).
Skills- Language: Ability to read and interpret professional documents and write reports and procedures.
- Mathematics: Proficiency in applying fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.
Physical Demands- Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
- Prolonged use of computers and office equipment.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read, and hear.
Work Environment- Noise level is typically low to moderate.
