Description:

The incumbent will perform preventative maintenance on large scale industrial equipment used in manufacturing of steel plate products. In this role work will be completed with a limited degree of supervisor and will require a high level of organization, attention to detail, and effective time management skills. This role interfaces with other Rolling Mill department employees as well as members of our Central Maintenance group.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Grinds rolls within established tolerances and specifications and performs scheduled breakdown and build-up of work and back-up chocks, using proper procedures and adjustments

  • Performs routine mechanical and welding repairs on Roll Shop and Four High equipment including chocks, bearings, stripper bars, hydraulics, lifting devices and rigging

  • Operates overhead radio-controlled crane and mobile equipment, including manlift and forklift, as needed

  • Performs proper lubrication and fluid checks and fills levels as needed

  • Performs safety inspections on all shop equipment and keeps accurate and legible records

  • Maintains a clean safe work area and steam cleans equipment as required

  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a heavy industrial environment in either a maintenance or production role

  • Experience operating forklift

  • Experience operating and programming CNC machines including a Waldrich-Siegen Roll Grinder preferred

  • Experience operating overhead crane strongly preferred

  • Able to read precision measuring equipment (i.e. Mic’s, Crack Detection, Pi-Tape)

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals, including the commitment to make safety our top priority

  • Follows through on commitments and make sure others do the same, especially in relation to safety related processes and procedures

  • Absorbs and act on information quickly when faced with new situations

  • Makes sound decisions, even in the absence of complete information

  • Works cooperatively with others across the organization to get things done

  • Takes on new opportunities and challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm

  • Good problem solving and analytical skills

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to organize information in a way that is detailed, clear, and understandable to a variety of audiences

  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, decimals)

  • Proficient in the use of computer programs for the purpose of sending email

  • Knowledge of rigging procedures strongly preferred
