The Mechanical Engineering Intern will learn how to operate in a real mill setting and interact with plant personnel as well as external suppliers and contractors. The Mechanical Engineering Intern will be responsible for mechanical system improvement and design as well as field implementation of the ideas under the direction/mentorship of Senior Engineers and Project Managers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mechanical Design using Autodesk Programs (15%)
  • Data collection and research, in office & in field (15%)
  • Project Planning & Management (15%)
  • Implementing Mechanical Engineering principle into projects, including project implementation (15%)
  • Provide support to the Process Automation, Operations and Maintenance teams (30%)
  • Work with Outside Vendors (5%)
  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned (5%)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Suite, AutoCAD software and 3D modeling
  • Experience in manufacturing, preferred
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment, which will include inside and outside environmental conditions

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of Mechanical engineering fundamentals (i.e. Statics, Mechanics of Materials, Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Machine Design, etc.)
  • Utilization of Cad Software, Perform Engineering Computations, Communication skills, Conduct Meetings and Presentations, Competency with Technical Drawings, Willingness to learn.
