POSITION SUMMARY:

The Strategic Solutions team is part of The Globe Media Group – the advertising revenue arm of The Globe and Mail.


The role of the Strategic Solutions team is to connect the dots between products, internal stakeholders, and performance best practices to architect meaningful solutions that deliver on the unique goals of our brand partners while driving premium revenue growth for the company.


It is our job as media experts, innovators, and storytellers to support the sales team and wider revenue department in:


  1. Crafting proposals that address the parameters and KPIs unique to each opportunity, positioning how the Globe Media Group solution meets their specific needs.
  2. Providing campaign optimization support to deliver on performance goals, mining insights to identify opportunities that grow clients into longer-term partners.
  3. Identifying trends in requests and outcomes to support the product development and refinement of Globe Media Group offerings.

The Media Strategist position serves as the expert in crafting bespoke solutions using The Globe Media Group’s complete product portfolio to support KPIs for advertising partners. This position works in partnership with the sales team and reports to the Manager, Strategic Solutions Team.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Lead the development of digital, print and custom integrated media proposals leveraging the full suite of Globe Media Group solutions.

  • Identify optimal product mix based on category of business, KPIs, benchmarks and historical campaign performance.
  • Co-ordinate response with input from data team, product team, content studio, creative services and events team as needed to deliver a best-in-class solution.
  • Work collaboratively with ad ops, ensuring solution is optimized to available inventory to deliver desired client outcomes.
  • Build proposals in the format of a pitch deck and/or media plan based on requirements.
  • Bring technical expertise to support sales in engaging directly with clients and agencies to drive confidence in the proposed solution, including participation in client meetings as needed.

Review campaign performance for integrated media campaigns.

  • In partnership with ad ops and program delivery managers, review and analyse campaign reports to ensure goals and benchmarks are being met while identifying opportunities for optimization to drive performance improvements and upsell opportunities.

Support proactive sales opportunities.

  • In collaboration with sales, product, data team and content studio, create proactive sales opportunities that address key themes, seasonality and market demands for specific advertisers or customize off-the-shelf solutions to meet their goals.
  • Support the development of case studies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or related college degree in business, digital advertising and marketing or communications.
  • 3 years of relevant digital/media presales OR digital/media buying experience within an agency.
  • Strong knowledge/background in digital marketing, ad tech and programmatic buying processes.
  • An understanding of branded content, influencer marketing and social media trends.
  • Strong presentation and written communication skills with ability to speak about technical topics in every-day language.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
