Your Job

Our Maitland, Ontario facility is seeking a Welder to work in a maintenance and system improvement capacity.

Our Team

The Welder will be responsible for performing the assembly and securing of pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment defect-free to meet engineering specifications efficiently. The work will be done on systems carrying water, steam, fluids, gases, chemicals, and fuel which includes heating, cooling, lubricating, and process piping systems.

INVISTA's Maitland site produces DYTEK®A amine, a chemical intermediate used globally in products such as polyamide plastics, fibers, adhesives, curing agents, polyurethanes, vitamins, pharmaceuticals, and epoxy resins. Maitland Site also operates Cogeneration Units, a Hydrogen Plant and Utilities operation.

What You Will Do

The successful candidate will adhere to all safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures. They will maintain a clean work area and retain accurate welding and material records.

What You Will Do In Your Role
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fitting, and related heat exchanger equipment according to specification.
  • Perform other related duties, including grinding, and chipping.
  • Understand and follow the NDE & QA requirements for each job.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and seek ways to improve workflow to reduce costs.
  • Must be able to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Applicants must possess a Certification of Qualification as a Welder.
  • Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, mathematical skills, an ability to read and understand complex instructions, and an ability to do careful and exacting work.
  • Must be able and willing to work any shift including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.


What Will Put You Ahead
  • Able to weld utilizing the GTAW & SMAW weld processes.
  • Welding of Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and other alloy materials.
  • Has previously held a TSSA Welder/Welding Operator certificate for the GTAW welding process.
  • Has previously held a CWB Structural Steel CSA W47.1 Welder Qualification in the SMAW welding process.
  • Able to read, sketch, and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Able to layout, fit, and fabricate metal components.
  • Fabrication/repair of ASME B31.1, 31.3 piping.
  • Repair of ASME Section VIII pressure vessels & ASME Section 1 Boilers.
  • Fabrication and repair of structural steel to CSA Std. W59.


Physical Requirements/Other Considerations:
  • Lifting, bending, stopping, standing, kneeling, squatting
  • Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., unassisted.
  • Position requires the ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); with or without accommodation, such as: Steel-toed shoes, ear plugs, safety glasses, face shields, gloves, hard hats, and other protective equipment as may be required in the operating areas.
  • Good working knowledge of safety requirements regarding safe material handling operation/procedures, safe operation of machinery, personal protective equipment
