Description:

Responsibilities:

APQP & Program Management:

  • Lead the APQP process from concept through production for new and modified stainless steel and nickel-based alloy tubes.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, deliverables, and gate reviews in accordance with APQP guidelines.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to APQP elements such as DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, PPAP, and MSA.
  • Monitor program status, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to ensure on-time, high-quality program launches.

Quality Planning & Documentation:

  • Work closely with the PPAP Coordinator to oversee creation and approval of PPAP submission packages for customers.
  • Ensure quality planning documentation reflects the unique characteristics of stainless steel materials, including forming, machining, welding, passivation, and finishing processes.
  • Validate that process controls, inspection plans, and testing methods meet customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant documentation aligned with ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (if applicable), and customer-specific requirements.

Process Development & Continuous Improvement:

  • Guide process capability studies, statistical analysis, and measurement system evaluations.
  • Support shop floor validation activities, including trials, capability runs, and process sign-offs.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations to optimize manufacturability, reduce variation, and improve yield.
  • Lead lessons-learned and continuous improvement initiatives derived from previous product launches.

Cross-Functional & Customer Engagement:

  • Serve as primary quality representative for customer new-program meetings, audits, and technical reviews.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure APQP alignment and quality compliance for purchased components and raw materials.
  • Provide training and mentoring to internal teams on APQP tools, methodologies, and best practices.

Role Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Technologist diploma in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in APQP, Quality Engineering, or Program Management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with metal fabrication processes—particularly stainless steel machining, forming, welding, or finishing—is strongly preferred.
  • Prior involvement in ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar quality systems required.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in APQP tools (FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, MSA, SPC).
  • Knowledge of GD& T, process capability analysis, and root cause investigation.
  • Familiarity with stainless steel material properties, surface finishing, and corrosion-resistance processes.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and customer standards.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent project management and organizational capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.
  • Effective communication, documentation, and presentation abilities.
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and analytical thinking.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • On-time completion of APQP milestones and deliverables.
  • First-pass PPAP approval rate.
  • Reduction in launch-related quality issues (internal scrap, rework, customer complaints).
  • Process capability improvements (Cpk/Ppk performance).
  • Supplier readiness and compliance for new programs.
  • 80% office environment.
  • 20% manufacturing environment.
  • No direct reports.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Some travel required.

This job positing is for an existing vacancy within the organization.

The expected compensation range for this position is $86, 500 - $128, 400. This range includes base pay and target variable pay. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience. We also consider internal equity to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. This range reflects the expected full compensation range for the role; most offers will fall within the range and not at the maximum in order to allow for future growth.
