The Quality Assurance Director is responsible for leading the organization’s Quality program across all major construction projects. This role oversees the Quality team, ensures the consistent implementation of quality standards, maintains company certifications, interfaces with clients, and works closely with operations to support the successful delivery of complex, high-value projects. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and collaborator who can effectively represent the quality function while partnering with project teams and leadership.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Based out of the Burlington office and serving projects across Ontario, the Quality Assurance Director will provide leadership and oversight for the company’s quality management system (QMS). They will ensure effective creation of project specific Quality Plans across multiple markets, and be accountable for their implementation with support from quality staff. This individual will help ensure that quality systems, procedures, standards and certifications are implemented and aligned with client requirements and regulatory expectations.

The role requires someone who can build strong relationships with operations and project teams and external stakeholders. They will contribute to the ongoing improvement of the company’s Quality Management System to ensure that it is scalable to a growing business. The Quality Assurance Director will also mentor and support members of the Quality team while helping to maintain a strong culture of quality across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Leadership & Oversight

  • Be accountable for the implementation and continuous improvement of the corporate Quality Management System.
  • Ensure quality policies, procedures, and standards are applied consistently across projects.
  • Monitor project quality performance, analyze trends, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Team Leadership

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to Quality Technicians and other quality team members.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and developing quality personnel.
  • Promote a collaborative and solutions-focused approach within the Quality team.

Project & Operational Support

  • Work closely with Operations and Project Management teams to integrate quality requirements into project execution.
  • Support the development and implementation of project-specific Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality procedures.
  • Lead Quality investigations and disposition of actions
  • Provide guidance on quality risks, non-conformance issues, and corrective actions.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, clients, regulators, and third-party inspectors.
  • Communicate quality expectations clearly across project teams.
  • Lead audits, inspections, and client quality requirements as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work closely with operations and project teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Solid understanding of construction quality management and compliance
  • Strong technical acumen of relevant codes and standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional presence with the ability to represent the quality function internally and externally.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in quality management within large-scale construction, infrastructure, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Experience working on complex or high-value construction projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supporting or managing quality teams.
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, standards, and construction quality practices.
