Description:

The Student Services Specialist will provide full administrative support, operational oversight, and supervision of the Language Learning Center (LLC) for the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and supervising the operation of the LLC, its resources, equipment, and personnel including scheduling, staffing, and training of student employees.
  • Additional duties include coordinating student exams, overseeing inventory and equipment needs, assist with student events, maintain student data reports, website management, and coordinate IT support.
  • Assists students with processes and procedures.
  • Answers inquiries via phone and email.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Skills:

  • Proficient navigating and maintaining databases
  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff
  • Strong initiative to solve problems
  • Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
  • Must be able to supervise student employees and communicate directions and expectations effectively

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.
  • Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively including receiving and delivering detailed information orally.
  • Ability to see including color, depth perception and clarity, hear, crouch, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or move for short or extended time periods.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Experience with higher education and OU systems
  • Advanced computer skills and wide knowledge of business software
  • Bachelor Degree
  • Supervisor or management experience
