At the Stephenson Cancer Center, we have an exciting new job opportunity that could be right for you! The Sr. Program Coordinator for the Office of Cancer Research (SPC) will serve as the manager of the coordinator team. The SPC will supervise the daily workload and projects of the coordinators, establish best practices/policies/procedures, work with the Office Director to ensure team objectives are met. The SPC will also be responsible for program coordination of senior leadership meetings and initiatives, as determined by the Office Director. Duties include organizing meetings, tracking objectives for evaluation, preparing reports and presentations, etc.

Essential Duties:

  • Oversees the administrative activities of a designated program or programs.
  • Responsible for the daily program operations including staff supervision, program evaluations, and developing long-range plans.
  • Collects and analyses data and prepares reports.
  • Ensures compliance with program regulations.
  • Plans and coordinates program events.
  • Develops and administers budgets for assigned projects and programs.
  • Plans and oversees project management.
  • Develops policies and procedures.
  • Function as primary administrative support for all SCC research leadership meetings and SCC resources committees which includes: scheduling meetings, coordination of meeting logistics, documentation of meeting minutes and coordinating communication to meeting attendees.
  • Function as primary administrative support for SCC shared resources committees.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Educational requirements:

  • high school

Desired Skills:

Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND:

  • 48 months of related experience.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 96 months of related experience.

Skills:

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to manage daily operations of a program or department, including staff supervision and coordination of administrative functions.
  • Able to effectively evaluate projects, programs and produce comprehensive reports.
  • Able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively.
  • Must be able to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Working Conditions:

  • Standard Office Environment.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Program management experience at an academic organization (i.e. at a university).
  • Experience planning or coordinating leadership meetings, retreats, or events involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience developing or implementing policies, procedures, or project management processes for a program, department, or team.

Supervision:

  • 1-2 Project Coordinators
