The Southern Plains Transportation Center (SPTC) invites applicants for an exciting position as the Program Reporting and Tribal Outreach Coordinator. The Coordinator will help SPTC meet the USDOT deliverables and reporting requirements in a timely manner. These requirements include data collection, database repositories update, semi-annual progress reports, annual performance indicator reports, and regular communication with the consortium partners to ensure continuous progress. The Coordinator will also help expand engagement between the SPTC and tribal and rural communities and governments. Specifically, the individual will lead the effort to formulate and implement an overall strategy to engage with these communities and seek funding to sustain and expand outreach, workforce development, training, and other impactful activities. Because of the integrated nature of transportation problems in rural and tribal communities, this position will likely require working with organizations like the Oklahoma County Commissioners Association (OCCA). The Coordinator will work closely with undergraduate and graduate students to enhance their educational experience through hands-on, real-life projects with tribal and rural community-based industries as part of SPTC's Transportation Regional Internship Program, outreach, and technology transfer activities. The Coordinator will report to the SPTC Director.

The SPTC is a consortium 11 highly diverse and strong academic institutions: El Paso Community College (EPCC); Louisiana State University (LSU); Louisiana Tech University (LTU); Navajo Tech University (NTU); Oklahoma State University (OSU); Texas A& M University/Texas A& M Transportation Institute (TAMU/TTI); Texas Southern University (TSU); University of Arkansas (UARK); University of New Mexico (UNM); University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP); and the University of Oklahoma (OU), which serves as the consortium lead. Unprecedented developments in Al-based technologies and tools provide opportunities for data-driven solutions and engagement with the transportation community. With $3 million from the USDOT and an equal amount in matching support annually, including significant support from ODOT, the SPTC provides a unique opportunity to develop comprehensive, cost-effective, and implementable solutions to critical infrastructure issues facing the transportation systems of the region and the nation, and to prepare transportation professionals for leadership roles.

Job Duties:

• Participates in meetings, committees, and roundtable discussions to solicit research, education, and workforce needs with stakeholders.
• Responsible for assigned projects and develops planning/activities to address the needs of the project.
• Understand USDOT deliverables and reporting requirements and ensure SPTC compliance with these requirements.
• Use tracking tools for the project and summarize project progress to management - Collect data, update data repositories, maintain data repositories, and ensure data quality.
• Prepare semi-annual progress reports, annual performance indicators' reports, and other reports, as needed, and submit them in a timely manner.
• Assists with the development and implementation of communication plans for consortium partners and others regularly to ensure continuous progress and avoid problems with research projects and center activities.
• Maintain center goals, objectives, policies and procedures, and develop a strategy to expand SPTC engagement with tribal and rural communities and governments.
• Serve as a key team player in seeking external funding for sustaining and expanding SPTC's work programs and their impact.
• Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
