Description:

The Program Manager for the Data Institute for Societal Challenges (DISC) plays a critical role in driving the success of our research programs and operations. Reporting to the Executive Director and Managing Director, this role ensures that day-to-day operations, strategic initiatives, and long-term projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget.

Working closely with DISC’s leadership, affiliated faculty, and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Partnerships, the Program Manager will coordinate a wide range of projects that advance interdisciplinary research and innovation across campus and beyond.

Essential Duties:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations and long-term program initiatives.
  • Responsible for daily program management throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Aligns deliverables to the program's outcome.
  • Manage program budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of projects from start to finish.
  • Monitor key project milestones, conduct performance reviews, and report on program metrics.
  • Develop monthly reports and presentations for DISC leadership.
  • Coordinate proposal development, including interpreting Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and collaborating on proposal strategies.
  • Manage special projects as assigned, often with cross-campus teams.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve program outcomes.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Educational requirements:

  • high school

Desired Skills:

Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND:

  • 48 months of program development, program management or related experience.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 96 months of related experience.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven.
  • Effective problem-solver with the ability to think creatively and adapt quickly.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff.

Certifications:

  • Valid Driver's License

Department Preferences:

  • Familiarity with project management tools.
