Description:
The Poison Information Pharmacist Specialist provides real-time clinical consultation and guidance for toxic exposures and medication-related emergencies through the Oklahoma Poison Center. This position supports the poison center’s highest call-volume consultation hours and plays a key role in patient safety, public health education, and experiential training of pharmacy students.
This role offers a unique opportunity to develop advanced clinical expertise in toxicology practice while working within a collaborative academic environment.
Scheduling Expectations:
This position primarily supports evening and late-evening consultation coverage. Typical scheduled hours include shifts beginning between 3: 00 PM and 5: 00 PM and ending between 11: 00 PM and 1: 00 AM.
Location Expectations:
The majority of shifts are performed on-site at the poison center. Limited remote work may be considered following successful completion of training and competency validation (no more than 2 shifts / pay period).
Occasional overnight coverage (9: 00 PM–8: 00 AM window) may be required to support operational needs, typically in limited blocks distributed throughout the year.
New hires will initially complete orientation and competency training on daytime shifts before transitioning to their primary evening schedule. Recurring weekend work is expected.
