Description:
The Oklahoma Center for Education Policy Innovation (OCEPI) Director will be a high-profile leader with significant connections to Oklahoma's education ecosystem. This individual will play a critical role in guiding the Center's vision, building relationships with state leaders, and extending the impact of the Center's work. The OCEPI Director will manage day-to-day operations and serve as the public face of the Center by translating research for state lawmakers, organizing annual conferences, and managing the Oklahoma Education Journal.
Essential Duties:
- Provides leadership and management of the program, center or college that is large in scope to include providing administrative direction, staff management, performs and directs a team for financial analysis, budget preparation and reports. May include some grant management and policy development
- Assist Director with long-range, strategic and development initiatives
- Develops and implements administrative, fiscal, and operational policies in compliance with the University, NIH, federal and state guidelines
- Financial responsibilities include, budgeting, financial planning, and approval of expenditures. Analyzes departmental financial procedures. Makes recommendations for changes and develops strategy for change
- Prepares budget and financial reports
- Manages and participates in a variety of projects to ensure financial, quality, service, and operational goals are achieved. Plans and develops internal and/or external partnerships to market and further the program, center or college mission
- May develop grant submissions and oversee funded programs
- May represent program, center or college at various internal and external meetings
- May supervise events as necessary
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position

Desired Skills:
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, AND:
- 84 months of related experience in a university environment or equivalent administrative position
Skills:
- Demonstrated administrative leadership and expertise, promoting a team approach to strategic planning, and the development of a full continuum specialty program
- Highly developed expertise in quantitative analysis to support definition and advancement for department's goals and objectives
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining positive, effective, and productive relationships
- Ability to act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders. Ability to provide leadership to establish priorities and to develop and implement solutions
- A high orientation to detail with proven analytical and financial skills

- Occasional lifting of materials or equipment (e.g., laptops, documents, displays for presentations)

Departmental Preferences:
- Masters or Doctorate
- 5-10 years in research role, data analysis, or public service with data analysis component
- Knowledge of Education Policy: Deep understanding of education systems, reform strategies, and policy issues at local, state, and federal levels
- Research & Evaluation: Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods, data analysis, and translating research into policy recommendations
- Nonprofit Management: Familiarity with nonprofit governance, budgeting, compliance, and human resources practices
- Fundraising & Philanthropy: Understanding of grant writing, donor relations, and fundraising strategies
- Public Affairs & Communications: Knowledge of public relations, strategic communication, and media engagement, particularly in the policy arena
