Description:

Picks up and delivers United States Postal Service (USPS) and interdepartmental and/or student mail.

  • Picks up mail by utilizing a state owned motor vehicle.
  • Delivers mail to various destinations.
  • May make special mail runs as directed by the supervisor.
  • Assists in preparation of special mailings.
  • Maintains state owned motor vehicle, to include but not limited to inspecting the vehicle for engine oil, and brake pressure.
  • Informs central mail supervisor of any deficiencies.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Educational requirements:

  • high school

Desired Skills:

Required Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED., AND:

  • 24 months experience in mailing/postal transportation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to read and write
  • Excellent driving record
  • Basic computer and math skills
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information

Working Conditions:

  • Physical: Ability to engage in repetitive motions. Loading and unloading heavy loads (up to 5O lbs.). Stooping, bending, standing, and climbing often and for prolonged periods. Performing physically demanding labor.
  • Environmental: Working in potentially hazardous conditions. Exposure to extreme temperatures and outdoor work in all seasons.

Certifications or Licenses:

  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days from hire date.
