OU is one of only four comprehensive academic health centers in the nation with seven professional colleges. we are looking for an HRPP Project Manager to join our team.
The HRPP Project Manager provides advanced project management, operational oversight, and strategic support to the leadership of the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP). This position plays a critical role in ensuring institutional compliance with federal and state regulations governing human subjects research through effective education, accreditation support, policy development, and electronic system management.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides project management support to Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) leadership in developing, coordinating, and implementing education and outreach programs, AAHRPP accreditation, and electronic submission systems to ensure compliance with federal and state human research regulations
- Develops, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive education program for the protection of human research participants; monitor regulatory and technological changes and advise management on operational impacts
- Assess gaps in educational initiatives and develop resources, guidance documents, and support materials to meet researcher training needs; maintain and track education program records
- Manage day-to-day supervision and development of designated staff, including training and performance evaluations; assist with onboarding new team members
- Leads the development and delivery of training and seminars for faculty, staff, and students on human research protection, IRB requirements, and institutional review processes
- Provides consultative support on protocols and consent documents
- Assists in onboarding new IRB members and coordinate continuing education initiatives for HRPP staff and board members
- Oversees AAHRPP accreditation and reaccreditation efforts, including managing revisions to forms, policies, guidelines, and SOPs; develop required accreditation materials and training content
- Serves as the designated super user for the electronic submission system (iRIS); provide user training, technical support, and coordinate updates and testing with vendors and IT
- Participates in institutional meetings and committees; represent the department in outreach and engagement activities
- Maintains effective communication through HRPP/OUHSC IRB websites, listservs, and other platforms
- Recommends improvements to streamline the IRB review process, including updates to applications, forms, checklists, training, policies, and guidance based on feedback and regulatory updates

Desired Skills:
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree AND:
- 3 years of human subjects research related experience in the following areas: IRB administration, quality improvement and/or compliance monitoring, clinical research, or related field)
Equivalency/Substitution: Experience or a combination of education & related experience can be considered in lieu of a degree. A one-to-one ratio is used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree.
Skills:
- Knowledge of federal regulations and guidance governing human research, including OHRP, FDA, HR PAA, R CH /GCP, and institutional HRPP policies
- Familiarity with AAHRPP accreditation standards and requirements
- Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and accreditation standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher) and Adobe Acrobat
- Skilled in developing and delivering effective presentations and training sessions to diverse audiences
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
- Ability to train individuals and groups on regulatory requirements and internal procedures
- Capable of mastering and supporting electronic IRB systems (e.g., iRIS)
- Demonstrates sound judgment, critical thinking, organizational efficiency, and time management
- Maintains professionalism and high performance under pressure and while managing multiple projects
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators
- Proactive in identifying issues and implementing solutions within regulatory and institutional frameworks
Certifications:
- Must obtain the Certified IRB Professional (CIP) credential within 12 months of hire
Working Conditions:
- Frequent interaction with faculty, researchers, administrators, and staff across various departments and institutions
- Must be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment
- Occasional travel may be required for professional development, conferences, or accreditation -related activities
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform tasks requiring repetitive motion (e.g.), typing, using a mouse)
