Description:

The Experiential Learning (EL) Coordinator manages the logistics and promotion of internships, fellowships, and related experiences primarily through EL platforms while collaborating closely with campus partners. This role serves as a resource for students, faculty, and employers, supporting engagement with (EL) programs. This includes contributing to the development, assessment, and promotion of (EL) resources and events to ensure alignment with both Career Center and University goals.

  • Reviews and approves internships, fellowships, co-ops, volunteer opportunities, on-campus positions, graduate positions, and other experiential learning opportunities to ensure compliance with institutional guidelines and standards.

  • Reviews and approves new employer internship requests submitted through the platform.

  • Partners with OU Human Resources to audit student worker positions listed in Handshake and assess their eligibility for internship conversion.

  • Serves as the primary contact for employer and stakeholder inquiries regarding internship logistics, including pay guidelines, course credit, and skill-building criteria.

  • Collaborates with departments across campus to collect, evaluate, and promote experiential learning opportunities aligned with students¿ academic and professional goals.

  • Works with registered student organizations to guide students in articulating how their work contributes to career readiness and experiential learning.

  • Audits and evaluates existing experiential learning platforms for usability and effectiveness

  • Researches and promotes emerging tools and platforms to expand experiential learning resources available to students

  • Develops and implements promotional strategies to raise awareness and encourage usage of experiential learning tools and opportunities by students, faculty, and staff.

  • Contributes to fostering an inclusive environment that encourages broad student participation in experiential learning opportunities across backgrounds, disciplines, and interests.

Educational requirements:

Desired Skills:

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree, AND:

  • 1 year of experience in higher education programming or closely related field.

Equivalency/Substitution: Experience or a combination of education and related experience can be considered in lieu of degree. A one-to-one ratio is used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree.

Skills:

  • Ability to create and deliver effective, engaging training and outreach presentations.
  • Strong problem-solving initiative and program development capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy of data.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet competing deadlines.
  • Capable of producing clear, timely reports and program evaluations.
  • Ability to interpret policy and applying relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Strong written communication, composition, and proofreading abilities.
