Description:

Founded in 2016, the Tom Love Innovation Hub, also Known as the I-Hub, originated as a cutting-edge facility to foster the creation, development and implementation of innovative ideas. Today, the Innovation Hub and its partner programs have established the University of Oklahoma as a leader in the Oklahoma entrepreneurial ecosystem. Purposed with advancing innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Oklahoma and across our state, the Innovation Hub has helped to launch many new ventures and entrepreneurial projects. The diverse array of programs contained within the I-Hub have rapidly grown the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Oklahoma by providing top-tier talent and launching promising businesses into the economy.

Essential Duties:

  • Leads and manages a diverse team of staff and student employees, including resource allocation and staffing deployment.
  • Oversees budget management and ensure efficient use of resources to support program goals.
  • Provides operational management and strategic direction for distinct innovation and entrepreneurship programs, aligning initiatives with university and college objectives.
  • Serves as the primary liaison for innovation and entrepreneurship programs and services across two campuses.
  • Ensures alignment and completion of grant deliverables and metrics for multiple, multi-million-dollar grant projects.
  • Coordinates activity on the first floor of the Tom Love Innovation Hub, managing access, space utilization, event planning, and daily operations across four dedicated programs.
  • Drives institutional collaboration and alignment around innovation and entrepreneurship in support of the PCOB and university strategic plans.
  • Acts as key liaison for curricular integration, promoting student experiential learning and aligning educational and performance outcomes between PCOB and the College of Engineering.
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, state legislators, and external partners.
  • Leverages translational research and intellectual property disclosures through the Vice President for Research office to support commercialization efforts.
  • Leads fundraising efforts to secure support from university and external stakeholders for multiple innovation programs.
  • Promotes Innovation Hub activities, increasing awareness and participation among students, faculty, and the broader community.

Educational requirements:

  • high school

Desired Skills:

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Administration, Engineering, Technology Management, or related discipline, AND:

  • 10 years experience in innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, program management or related programs

Equivalency/Substitution: Experience or a combination of education and related experience can be considered in lieu of degree. A one-to-one ratio is used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree.

Skills:

  • Proven leadership experience managing staff and student teams in dynamic environment.
  • Strong budget management and resource allocation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-campus programs with multiple funding sources.
  • Experience managing grant-funded projects, including reporting and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build partnerships.
  • Expert technical proficiency with various fabrication tools to support operations, teaching, and design activities.
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging and effective presentations.
  • Experience in leveraging translational research and intellectual property for commercialization and economic development.

Working Conditions:

  • Works with or around machinery with moving parts.
  • Possible exposure to fumes.
