Description:

The Data Center Analyst is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing data center operations to ensure the high availability, performance, and security of the organization's IT infrastructure. This role supports the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware and software systems within the data center environment and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure business continuity and effective IT service delivery.

Duties:

  • Installs, configures, and maintains networking hardware, including switches, routers, and wireless access points, ensuring optimal performance and security
  • Perform rack and stack operations for servers, network equipment, and cabling, adhering to best practices for organization and safety
  • Maintain thorough cable management, labeling, and up-to-date physical layout documentation to support efficient infrastructure management
  • Monitor and support power infrastructure, including generator status, UPS health, and cooling systems, to ensure continuous operation and prevent downtime
  • Conduct regular facility walk-throughs and inspections to identify and address potential issues proactively
  • Assist with network troubleshooting and problem resolution, collaborating with team members to minimize service interruptions
  • Participate in change control processes, documenting changes accurately and supporting basic incident response to maintain system integrity

Desired Skills:

Required Education: Associate's degree or vocational degree completion in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field

Equivalency/Substitution: Experience or a combination of education & related experience can be considered in lieu of degree. A one-to-one ratio is used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree.

Skills:

  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, networking, and opera􀀁ng systems
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Ability to follow instructions and document work accurately
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights or weekends to support data center needs
  • Ability to use protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to strict safety and security protocols
  • Ability to distinguish colors to recognize and differentiate colors used in system alerts, electrical wiring, and schematics in order to identify malfunctions, follow safety protocols, and perform accurate maintenance and repair tasks

Working Conditions:

  • Based in a climate-controlled data center environment or standard office environment
  • Ability to distinguish colors accurately to interpret system alerts, status indicators, wiring codes, and other visual signals critical to safe and effective operation and troubleshooting of equipment and systems.
  • May require extended periods of standing, walking, and physical activity such as lifting or moving equipment (up to 50 lbs)
  • Exposure to noise from data center equipment and cooling systems
  • May require working in confined spaces or server racks
  • Able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed to support 24/7 data center operations
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required depending on the task
  • Occasional travel between multiple data center sites or for meetings, conferences, trainings, etc.
