At the Stephenson Cancer Center, we have an exciting new job opportunity that could be right for you! The Clinical Trial Management System Senior Financial Analyst provides management, administration and/or analysis and evaluation of financial activities within the department.

Duties:

  • Designs and oversees the development of electronic clinical trial calendars within OnCore, ensuring alignment with protocol requirements and institutional billing compliance standards. Consolidates clinical, procedural, and financial data into formats suitable for internal review and sponsor negotiation.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains processes for performing Medicare Coverage Analysis (MCA), integrating MCA results into calendar builds and downstream budgeting to ensure compliant cost allocation between research and routine care.
  • Constructs and configures OnCore study calendars and associated financials by translating complex protocol documents into structured visit schedules, procedures, and billing designations.
  • Supports ongoing financial operations in OnCore through calendar corrections, budget troubleshooting, and collaboration with research teams, ensuring continuity from study startup through closeout.
  • Updates protocol calendars and budgets in OnCore to reflect amendments, revised timelines, or new coverage determinations; maintains data accuracy and audit readiness.
  • Conducts detailed cost and pricing analyses for clinical trial services, coordinating with institutional fee schedules, third-party pricing tools, and internal stakeholders to support fair market value and sponsor negotiations.
  • Develops, reviews, and negotiates clinical trial budgets with industry sponsors, ensuring alignment with protocol scope, coverage analysis, and institutional financial policies.
  • Provides financial insight and support during contract development and study activation by generating standardized and custom budget reports from OnCore.
  • Stays up to date on institutional and sponsor policy changes, CMS guidelines, and pricing models that impact calendar development, MCA standards, and budget structuring.
  • Advises regarding audit responses. Monitors departmental activities in financial and operational areas for compliance with audit recommendations.
  • Assists in long-range financial planning.
  • Prepares and analyzes financial statements, costing forecasts, and interprets generally accepted accounting principles. Communicates with external organizational representatives to resolve complex financial problems.
  • Supervises, trains and mentors new team members on calendar build, MCA processes, budgeting standards, and troubleshooting techniques in OnCore.
  • Develops and implements integrated processes and applications for periodic and ad hoc financial reporting, and utilizing complex electronic financial information from systems and databases.
  • Performs quality assurance and system testing for calendar and financial functionality in OnCore during system upgrades, enhancements, and integration efforts.
  • Monitors clinical trial financial metrics and identifies opportunities to improve budget build efficiency, turnaround time, and calendar consistency across studies and departments.

  • Collaborates with leadership, research finance, study teams, sponsors, health system representatives, and IT to resolve complex issues related to budget discrepancies, calendar logic, and billing compliance.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information from all components of the organizational entity, and develops integrated revenue/expense analysis, projections, reports, and presentations.
  • Coordinates, compiles, and analyzes annual financial statements for the organization and its component units, utilizing complex spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Analyzes, designs, documents, and implements internal financial reporting systems and procedures for the organization or specific operational entities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support accurate, efficient, and compliant clinical trial financial and calendar management within OnCore.

Educational requirements:

  • high school

Desired Skills:

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field. AND:

  • 36 months experience in financial/accounting position to include analysis, auditing and budgeting

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months experience in lieu of BS Degree for a total of 84 months of experience.

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively Strong initiative to solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and administer financial information and control systems. Ability to compile, analyze, interpret, and present complex annual financial reports, statements, and/or projections.
  • Knowledge of a range of automated financial systems and applications software. Knowledge of the principles, processes, and standards for integrated financial analysis and reporting as related to a public institution.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Database management skills. Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise.
