We are excited to announce an opportunity to join our team as an Admissions Specialist.

The Admissions Specialist plays a critical role in supporting prospective students throughout the application process. This position is responsible for processing applications, evaluating transcripts, managing registration updates, and supporting applicants.

The Admissions Specialist will be responsible for auditing and processing incoming applications, evaluating and loading transfer credit work, perform transcript evaluations, communicating with applicants via phone and email. They are responsible for tracking application progress, responding to student inquiries regarding academic records and admissions processes, and providing input on the development and revision of admissions materials and communications.

Duties:

  • Applies complex policies and procedures to process applications for admission to the university including the evaluation of academic and supporting credentials.

  • Audits final high school transcripts, updating curricular requirements and posting updated test scores to ensure all applicable credits are awarded to the student.

  • Disseminates admission information and analyzes trends in the student recruitment and retention process to inform decisions around the creation of the class schedule.

  • Maintains and updates student records.

  • Complies with university schedule change notifications.

  • Advises students and families regarding admission and other requirements, policies and procedures, and transfer of credit, as appropriate.

  • Develops admissions materials.

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Desired Skills:

Required Education: Bachelor's degree.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.

Skills:

  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases.
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, faculty and staff.
  • Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines
  • Strong initiative to solve problems
  • Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
  • Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations.
  • Customer service.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Physical: Ability to bend, lift, stoop and carry. Ability to engage in repetitive motions. Able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to see and hear.
  • Environmental: Standard office environment. Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. Requires contact with other departments and university officials.

Department Preferences:

  • Master's degree is strongly preferred.
  • 24+ months expereience in admissions, higher education or online learning.
  • Familiarity with BANNER.
  • Experience working with nontraditional student populations including military and adult learners.
