A Brief Overview

The Senior Buyer plays a strategic role in supplier coordination and procurement activities with a focus on turnkey customers and complex materials planning. This position is responsible for overseeing purchasing activities to ensure alignment with business goals, driving supplier performance, and leading coordination of determined cost-saving activities. The Senior Buyer collaborates cross-functionally to support operational excellence and provides guidance to junior team members. This role requires a deep understanding of, inventory management strategies, data analysis, and cross-functional communication to support business growth and supply chain resilience.

What you will do

• Analyze MRP exception reports and inventory data to ensure material availability and proactively resolve issues.
• Collaborate with and champion alignment between Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supplier, and Sourcing (where applicable) to ensure trials, material availability, and accounts payable alignment to Voyant policies and procedures.
• Track supplier performance metrics (OTIF, quality, responsiveness) and support corrective action and final resolution tracking.
• Ensure data integrity in procurement systems and oversee the accuracy of purchasing information across platforms.
• Mentor and support Buyers in day-to-day activities and purchasing strategies.
• Promote and lead all tactical, site-level coordination of supply continuity, material safety, quality, & productivity
• Assess Sourcing provided information on the market, pricing, lead time, and capacity of suppliers.
• Report and act on information, where necessary, to ensure alignment with planning, customer communication, and cost mitigation.
• Act as a key liaison between suppliers and internal departments to resolve escalated issues or delays.
• Recommend improvements to sourcing strategies and supplier selection processes.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings and represent Supply Chain-buying in cross-site initiatives or audits.

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, procurement, business management, or a related field. (Preferred)

Experience Qualifications

• 4-6 years in procurement, preferably in cosmetic, fragrance, or chemical turnkey manufacturing. (Preferred)
• 4-6 years demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives. (Preferred)

Skills and Abilities

• Proficient in ERP systems (MRP, JIT, Kanban, or VMI planning). (High proficiency)
• Experience using AS400, Excel, Access, and other Microsoft Office tools. (High proficiency)
• Advanced understanding of supply planning and inventory management best practices (High proficiency)
• Ability to analyze complex data and make informed purchasing decisions (High proficiency)
• Ability to lead initiatives and support cross-functional teams (High proficiency)
• Interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills (High proficiency)
• Attention to detail with a focus on system accuracy and compliance (High proficiency)
• Knowledge of lean supply chain practices and risk mitigation (Medium proficiency)
• Ability to mentor and provide guidance to junior staff (Medium proficiency)
