Rehab Helper, PRN, First Shift, Physical Therapy

UC Health is hiring a PRN Rehab Helper for the Physical Therapy department for the first shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The Rehab Helper assists with treating and transportation of patients, assist with routine department maintenance, and assist with clerical duties. Show respect and courtesy to all patients, staff and visitors.

  • Engages in population appropriate communication.
  • Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
  • Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems. Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
  • Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
  • Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.

Treatment:
  • Assist with set up, clean up, and execution of activities for patient care under the direction/supervision of licensed therapist
  • May assist with mobility needs of patients as assigned and supervised under a licensed therapist

Equipment Operations:
  • Maintain equipment in a clean and functioning manner
  • Assist with FEES scope transportation to OR Processing for cleaning

Patient Escort:
  • Escort patients to and from treatment area as needed.

Clerical Assistance:
  • Assist with clerical duties including answering phones, copying, filing, management of patient information, etc., as needed.

Department Operations:
  • Perform messenger duties/errand running
  • Utilize Epic to notify therapists of D/C dependent patients needing treatment
