Description:
The Peer Specialist Supervisor will provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision to the UC Health Mobile Crisis Team's Peer Specialists. This role combines direct service delivery with administrative and supervisory responsibilities. The Peer Specialist Supervisor will support peers in high-acuity behavioral health settings, ensure fidelity to the peer model, and promote quality service delivery across community, ED, PES, and 988 crisis response settings.Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Required: Certified Peer Recovery Supporter (OhioMHAS) AND Certified Peer Supervisor (OhioMHAS).
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Peer Support Specialist in behavioral health or crisis services.
- Demonstrated ability to lead peers and collaborate with clinical teams.
- Comfortable navigating high-acuity environments and hospital systems.
- Proficiency with EPIC, Microsoft Office, Teams, and data tracking tools.
- Flexible schedule, including availability for weekend/evening shifts or on-call.
License & Certification:
- Required: Certified Peer Recovery Supporter (OhioMHAS) AND Certified Peer Supervisor (OhioMHAS).
Years of Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Peer Support Specialist in behavioral health or crisis services.

PATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY) - Engages in population appropriate communication.
- Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
- Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
- Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
- Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
- Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
- Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
- Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
Supervision & Leadership - Provide day-to-day supervision for up to 5+ Peer Support Specialists, with capacity to grow.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.
- Offer 1: 1 supervision and peer mentorship rooted in lived experience.
- Ensure peers operate within scope, maintain appropriate boundaries, and follow hospital standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for peer-related concerns, scheduling, and development.
- Support coordination of peer scheduling, coverage, and role deployment.
- Represent the peer team in leadership meetings and work groups.
- Maintain records of peer encounters, supervision, and performance.
Program Oversight - Coordinate peer services across programs to ensure adequate coverage and equitable distribution of caseloads.
- Track documentation, data, and outcomes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Support program development, quality assurance, and evaluation of peer services.
- Lead development and ongoing refinement of peer tracking tools and outcome measures (EPIC, Excel, Teams, etc.).
- Collaborate with clinical leadership to align peer work with broader MCT goals.
- Support continuous improvement and help identify funding, training, and innovation opportunities.
Training & Development - Identify training needs and coordinate continuing education for peer staff.
- Assist in onboarding, mentoring, and certifying new peer specialists.
- Model recovery-oriented practices, trauma-informed care, and cultural humility.
Direct Peer Support - Deliver trauma-informed, recovery-oriented peer support to patients in crisis.
- Engage patients in ED, PES, community, and via 988 triage, including after-hours/weekends as needed.
- Assist with high-acuity cases and complex patient needs.
- Model best practices for peer engagement and recovery planning.
