Certified Occupational Hand Therapist (CHT), PRN, First Shift, Outpatient Therapy

UC Health is hiring a PRN Certified Occupational Hand Therapist (CHT) for the Rehab Service's department for the first shift at UC Hoxworth.

The Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) will support the University of Cincinnati Medical Center's rehabilitation service's' department and Greater Cincinnati's only Level I Trauma Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs. The major focus will be on evaluating, planning, and implement Physical Therapy treatment programs for referred patients in order to restore function, prevent disability, reduce pain, and return to his/her maximum function. Follow hospital department approved policies related to documentation, attendance, education, etc. Show respect and courtesy to all staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from a school accredited by AOTA
  • License & Certification:
    • License to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of Ohio
    • Active Board Certification in Hand Therapy (CHT)
    • CPR Certification.
  • Years of Experience:
    • Recently certified, licensed or graduates within past 12 months.
    • 1-2 years equivalent experience of hand therapy experience and/or CHT; Preferred: 3-5 years equivalent experience

  • Manages a full caseload of orthopedic hand/upper extremity patients, performing individualized assessments and developing tailored treatment plans. Delivers safe, effective care using updated techniques, while educating patients and families on therapy goals, body mechanics, and home exercises.
  • Works closely with hand surgeons and physician staff. Communicates clearly and compassionately with patients and families, considering developmental, cultural, and psychological needs. Involves family in care planning and responds appropriately to behavioral health concerns.
  • Maintains accurate, timely documentation and billing. Adheres to hospital policies and regulatory standards, ensuring compliance across all aspects of care.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement initiatives, mentoring, and continuing education. Accepts student placements and supports orientation of new staff. Demonstrates strong time management and meets productivity expectations.
  • Maintains a clean, safe clinical environment. Follows UC Health policies and promotes a positive, professional atmosphere.
