Position Summary

The Civil Engineering Co-Op is an on-site position located in North Baltimore, OH for the Summer of 2025 with an estimated duration of 3 months. The Engineering Co-Op reports to the Engineering Manager and will be tasked with responsibilities including, but not limited to, project detailing work, writing, or updating procedures, and assisting Project Engineers or the Engineering Manager with other improvement projects within the department, etc.

What You'll Do
  • Preparation and/or updating checklist or other procedural documents within the engineering department
  • Researching and updating state and industry standard specifications and tolerances
  • Improvement projects which could include creating CAD models, standard details, etc.
  • Working with operations group on efficiency improvement initiatives for welding, material handling, storage, machining, etc.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment for detailing of fabricated/structural products for preparation of shop drawings.
  • Utilize company project checklist to minimize errors and provides input for continuous improvement.
  • Supports management and colleagues in implementing continuous improvement initiatives identified in yearly and long-term goals.

In addition to the accountabilities listed above, individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload.

Education / Experience: (an equivalent combination of education and experience required to successfully complete the primary accountabilities is indicated below)

Degree: Bachelors (In Progress) Major: Civil Engineering

Years of Experience: Has completed at least 4 semesters (or 6 quarters) of undergraduate program

Technical Skills:
  • Experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks preferred
  • Good geometry and trigonometry skills
  • Basic understanding of how products are purchased, machined, fabricated.

Physical Requirements (Approximate time spent to be included in physical demands such as walking, or bending, specific lifting requirements and/or other requirements such as vision or hearing.

May be required to lift up to 30 pounds and sit for prolonged periods at a desk and/or working on a computer. Must be able to sit, walk, see and hear.
