Description:

The Plant Quality Manager (PQM) is accountable for the overall quality excellence of the manufacturing site, ensuring that products, systems, and processes meet Schneider Electric's standards and customer expectations. This role leads the site's CS& Q organization, covering all activities from incoming materials to final shipment, while driving customer satisfaction, process robustness, and continuous improvement.

The PQM acts as the Voice of the Customer inside the plant, enforcing global directives, driving compliance, and ensuring that lessons learned from design, field, and suppliers are embedded back into production.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Leadership & Governance
  • Lead the CS& Q function at the plant, ensuring full alignment with Schneider Electric quality standards, directives, and policies.
  • Participate in the Plant Management Committee, providing quality insight and risk-based decision support.
  • Define and deploy plant quality objectives, KPIs, and annual improvement plans.
  • Drive compliance to the Schneider Quality Management System (DirQ_GL43, DirQ_GL52, etc.) and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Ensure audit readiness and maintain a culture of continuous improvement and quality ownership.


Quality Assurance & Control
  • Manage and continually improve incoming, in-process, and final inspection programs, including calibration and process control plans (PCPs).
  • Own the authorization-to-ship process, ensuring products meet all CTQs and CTPs prior to release.
  • Lead the Non-Conforming Material (NCM) process and ensure effective containment, correction, and prevention.
  • Oversee final inspection (QC100) and ensure traceable documentation for all shipped modules.
  • Validate quality inspection tools, records, and templates; ensure resources are adequately trained and deployed.


Issue Management & Escalation
  • Lead containment, 8D investigations, and root cause analysis for internal and external quality issues.
  • Manage factory-level CARs, PRBs, and inspection CRs and escalate systemic issues per the CS& Q Escalation Matrix.
  • Support supplier quality investigations alongside the Plant SQE and Senior SQE OG when supplier or integrator defects are identified.
  • Communicate critical risks and customer-impacting issues to Regional CS& Q leadership.

Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement
  • Deploy Layered Process Audits (LPAs), FMEAs, and poka-yoke initiatives to strengthen process robustness.
  • Promote data-driven decision-making using quality dashboards (DPU, DPPM, FFR-Cx, FFR-1, CoQ).
  • Lead Gemba walks and Kaizen events focused on CTQs, rework reduction, and defect prevention.
  • Drive compliance with Lean, Six Sigma, and SPS (Schneider Production System) principles.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Manage and develop the plant's CS& Q team (MQEs, Inspectors, QSF/QMS coordinators, Customer Advocate Engineer).
  • Define roles, responsibilities, and competencies for all quality functions at the site.
  • Foster a proactive "Stop at First Defect" culture focused on safety, ownership, and customer value.
  • Provide mentorship and career development aligned with Schneider's quality career framework.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Field Quality, and DfSR to ensure alignment across the product lifecycle.
  • Work closely with Customer Advocates to ensure customer expectations and feedback drive plant priorities.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality (SQEs, Senior SQE OG, QEF8) to contain supplier defects and validate incoming parts quality.
  • Coordinate with Quality Systems Engineers (QSF) for audit readiness, documentation, and ISO maintenance.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • DPU (Defects Per Unit) / DPPM (Defective Parts Per Million)
  • FFR-Cx and FFR-1 (Field Failure Rates)
  • On-time CAR/NCR closure rate
  • Cost of Non-Quality (CoQ) reduction
  • Audit closure and compliance score
  • LPA execution and findings closure
  • Customer satisfaction feedback (CSAT / NPS / VOC)

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Quality or Operations leadership, preferably in electrical, modular, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, Six Sigma, APQP, PPAP, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Certified Green or Black Belt preferred (Belt trained required).
  • Experienced in quality tools and methods: FMEA, 8D, RCCA, MSA, SPC, Control Plans.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to influence across functions.
  • Strong analytical capability and data visualization proficiency (Power BI, Excel, SAP, Omnex, QT9, etc.).
