Position Summary

The Chevrolet B & C Level Automotive Technician performs diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work on Chevrolet vehicles and other makes according to dealership and manufacturer standards.

This position is ideal for a developing technician with solid mechanical ability who wants to grow their career in a high-volume dealership environment with access to factory training, advanced diagnostic equipment, and experienced mentors.

Technicians in this role are expected to deliver accurate diagnostics, efficient repairs, and exceptional workmanship while contributing to a team environment focused on customer satisfaction, safety, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Diagnosis & Repair

  • Diagnose and repair vehicle systems including engine, transmission, suspension, steering, braking, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • Perform repairs and maintenance according to Chevrolet and GM factory standards
  • Execute maintenance services including oil changes, brake repairs, tire services, alignments, and fluid services
  • Utilize diagnostic tools, scanners, and service information systems to troubleshoot vehicle concerns

Repair Order Execution

  • Perform work outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy
  • Document all repairs, diagnostics, and recommendations clearly
  • Notify service advisors of additional repair needs, safety concerns, or repair delays
  • Maintain productivity and quality standards in a flat-rate service environment

Inspection & Safety

  • Complete multi-point vehicle inspections (360° inspections)
  • Identify potential safety or maintenance concerns
  • Perform road tests to verify repair completion when necessary
  • Ensure customer vehicles remain clean and protected during service

Team Collaboration

  • Communicate with the parts department to obtain necessary components
  • Work closely with service advisors and shop foreman to prioritize repairs
  • Assist in mentoring apprentice and entry-level technicians

Compliance & Safety

  • Follow OSHA safety standards and hazardous waste handling procedures
  • Operate shop equipment safely including lifts, diagnostic scanners, and power tools
  • Report equipment issues or safety concerns immediately

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend Chevrolet / GM manufacturer training
  • Stay current on technical service bulletins and diagnostic procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area
  • Participate in team meetings and service department initiatives

Qualifications

Preferred Experience

  • 2+ years experience as an Automotive Technician or Auto Mechanic
  • Experience working in a dealership service department preferred
  • Experience with Chevrolet, GM, or domestic vehicles a plus

Certifications

  • ASE Certifications preferred
  • Chevrolet / GM training or certification a plus
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Technical Skills

  • Ability to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of multiple vehicle systems
  • Familiarity with scan tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Understanding of repair order documentation and dealership workflow

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work under vehicles for extended periods
  • Ability to operate shop equipment safely

  • Stand and/or sit for up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Lift up to forty pounds without restrictions.
