Position Summary: The Product Manager for the Commercial Group at Prospiant is responsible for the full lifecycle of the company's Commercial Group product lines, with a specific focus on greenhouse solutions and related technologies. The role includes strategic planning, product development, market analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure that the company's products meet the evolving needs of commercial customers in industries such as agriculture, horticulture, and controlled-environment food production.
This position demands strong business acumen, a solid understanding of market dynamics, and technical expertise related to greenhouse infrastructure, glazing systems and environmental control systems. The Product Manager will be the primary driver for product innovation, market positioning, and revenue growth for the company's commercial solutions.
Primary Responsibilities: Product Strategy & Development:
- Lead the development and execution of the product roadmap for Prospiant's commercial greenhouse product lines, aligning with the company's strategic objectives.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, new technologies, and customer needs in the greenhouse and controlled-environment sectors.
- Define product specifications and features based on customer feedback, market needs, and collaboration with the design & engineering team.
- Drive innovation initiatives, ensuring the product portfolio evolves with industry standards and sustainability goals.
Product Lifecycle Management:
- Manage all aspects of the product lifecycle from concept and design to launch and continuous improvement, ensuring a market-leading product offering.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure product development timelines, quality standards, and cost targets are met.
- Regularly evaluate product performance through KPIs such as sales growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage product pricing strategies, including cost analysis and competitive positioning, to maximize revenue and market share.
Go-to-Market & Sales Enablement:
- Support sales and marketing with go-to-market strategies, including product positioning, messaging, and launch plans for new and upgraded commercial products.
- Train the sales and PM/CM team on product features, benefits, and positioning, providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to effectively sell the product.
- Act as a key liaison between sales team, commercial customers and internal teams to ensure that feedback, issues, and improvement opportunities are effectively communicated.
Customer and Market Insights:
- Actively engage with customers, attend industry conferences, and collaborate with industry stakeholders to gain deep insights into customer needs and market opportunities.
- gather insights and feedback that can drive future product development initiatives.
- Stay informed on regulatory changes and sustainability practices that could impact product design and customer demand.
Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Collaborate across various departments such as design, engineering, sales, marketing, supply chain, and operations to ensure the success of the product lines.
- Ensure strong internal communication and alignment on product goals, timelines, and customer expectations
Position Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, agriculture, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5 years of product management experience, preferably within the agricultural, greenhouse, or construction industries.
- Strong understanding of controlled-environment agriculture, horticulture, or greenhouse technologies.
- Proven experience managing full product lifecycles and successfully bringing new products to market.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Strong business acumen, with a demonstrated ability to understand market needs, trends, and customer preferences.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence teams without direct authority.
- Strong customer orientation, with a passion for delivering innovative solutions.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working in greenhouse design, construction, or controlled-environment systems.
- Knowledge of sustainability trends in commercial agriculture and the construction industry.
- Proficiency with product management software, CRM, and tools (e.g., Jira, Salesforce).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
