Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Project and Construction Management, the Lead Project Manager - Institutional Restoration is responsible for providing effective leadership for all Institutional Restoration and Maintenance Projects and with staff responsible for the full project cycle from customer visits, estimating, design/engineering, construction & commissioning. As a key member of the Project and Construction Management team, this role is accountable for leading and coordinating an effective project and management team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
  • Conduct site assessments to determine restoration and maintenance needs and develop appropriate building means & methods, estimates and proposals.
  • Collaborate with Botanical Gardens, Research facilities and Conservatory owners, architects, designers, engineers, and stakeholders to secure design/build restoration contracts.
  • Coordinate project management resources to execute portfolio of projects and meet business segment's forecast requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of restoration and maintenance projects, ensuring adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Accountability for leading, engaging, and developing a team of skilled project and construction management professionals; maximizing performance levels, innovation, efficiency, and overall talent management.
  • Lead, track and manage by means of Procore, including dashboards and KPIs per project.
  • Manage and prioritize resource allocation of project managers and specialized subcontractors to the respective active projects to meet customer expectations.
  • Coordinate and assign project responsibility, project plan, estimates, resources, execution, material requirements and coordination for respective projects.
  • Organize with in-house manufacturing, fabricators, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure compliance with the schedule and stay within budget.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, including cost estimates and financial reports.
  • Make certain efficient use of resources and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including institutional leaders, donors, and community members.
  • Guarantee Contractors and Supplier EHOS, licensing and insurance compliance.
  • Ensure quality control measures that meet high standards of restoration work.
  • Conduct inspections and evaluations to verify project final completion and handoff.
  • Address any deficiencies and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Supervise and mentor project team members, including horticulturists, technicians, and volunteers.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment with the Institutional Restoration team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
  • Facilitate and ensure conflict resolution by project managers, owner's representative, field personnel and other stakeholders. Escalate project issues to leadership as necessary for faster resolution.


Position Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction, or related field
  • 7 years experience in project management of environmental restoration or horticulture.
  • 5 years experience in construction supervisor experience
  • Experience in Microsoft Suite
  • Strong knowledge of greenhouse systems, plant biology, and sustainable practices.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Procore project management software.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
