What We're Looking For:
Michael Baker International is seeking a Department Manager - Bridge to lead and grow our Ohio bridge practice. This role combines technical leadership, client development, and team management, with a focus on delivering impactful bridge and transportation projects for ODOT and local agencies across the state.
What You'll Do:
  • Lead and grow a team delivering bridge design, rehabilitation, inspection, and load rating projects
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with ODOT, counties, municipalities, and key transportation clients.
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
  • Drive business development efforts, lead strategic pursuits, and help win major bridge and transportation projects.
  • Mentor staff, support career development, and foster a collaborative team culture.
  • Represent Michael Baker within Ohio's transportation industry and professional organizations.
What You Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 12+ years of bridge engineering experience.
  • Experience working with ODOT and Ohio public-sector clients.
  • PE license in Ohio (or ability to obtain).
  • Proven leadership, project delivery, and business development experience.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Established Ohio transportation industry relationships.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Alternative delivery (Design-Build) experience.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations.
  • Track record of winning pursuits and growing client accounts.
Compensation:
The approximate compensation range for this position is $125, 000 to $195, 000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
