If you are a Finance professional with expertise in cost accounting and manufacturing, Emerson Professional Tools has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Elyria, OH location, the Cost Accounting Manager will be responsible for cost accounting functions, including standard cost management, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and financial reporting for US locations. This role is crucial to ensuring accurate costing and providing financial insights to improve operational efficiencies.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Maintain and revalue standard costs to reflect accurate labor, materials, and overhead rates. Own the annual cost roll process and cost revaluation efforts.
  • Analyze and report on manufacturing cost variances (labor, material, and overhead). Investigate root causes and provide recommendations to management for cost containment opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation by preparing book-to-perpetual reconciliations. Coordinate excess and obsolete inventory process.
  • Improve cost tracking and reporting capabilities within JD Edwards (JDE) and suggest system improvements.
  • Assist with month-end close tasks including, but not limited to making journal entries and performing reconciliations

You adjust communication content and style to meet the needs of diverse collaborators.
For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to comfortably communicate financial information to senior levels in the organization.
  • Strong business insight, critical thinking, and analytical/technical skills
  • Self-confidence, ability to present position in difficult situations
  • Solid understanding of standard costing, cost variance analysis, and inventory accounting
  • Legal Authorization to work in the U.S. Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
  • CPA of CMA certification preferred
  • Manufacturing industry experience
  • JDE experience
