Job Description

Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises, Inc. is hiring a EHS Manager in Akron, OH. This is a full-time position.

The Regional EHS& S Manager will be responsible for the development of EHS solutions, talent, and capabilities for a specific geographic region . Through direct or indirect reporting of site EHS& S Specialists within region, this role will be responsible for the management of EHS risk and liability, including ensuring compliance with applicable EHS laws, regulations, and corporate directives.

  1. Develop, implement, and monitor daily adherence to environmental health and safety policies, practices, and procedures, align ment with B& W objectives, and report results to management
  2. Provide technical assistance on corporate policies, practices, and procedures
  3. Facilitate group EHS leadership teams
  4. Advises division and site management on EHS matters
  5. Facilitate the implementation of EHS management systems
  6. Ensure appropriate facility reporting of incidents, per B& W policy and/or regulatory requirements
  7. Facilitat e Serious Incident Review (SIR) process
  8. Facilitate / participate in Root-Cause Analysis of incidents as appropriate
  9. Ensure coordination and participation (as required ) in the investigation of accidents and near misses
  10. Develop and conduct appropriate training on B& W EHS policies and procedures
  11. Provide training and coaching to local EHS professionals and operational leaders to ensure technical competence and leadership development within the divisions and sites
  12. Conduct EHS & S audits in accordance with B& W policy
  13. These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned

Preferred Work Experience:
  1. Bachelor's degree Occupational Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Affairs, or related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
  2. 10+ years' of EHS-related experience within manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments
  3. Evidence of increasing role responsibility over previous 5 years
  4. Evidence of multiple site responsibility over previous 3 years
  5. Either or both of the following certifications is a plus: CSP, CHMM
  6. Willingness and ability to provide 24X7 on call support for emergencies

S pecific skills and/or business competencies:
  1. Competent in federal, state, and local occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations
  2. Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and EHS data management software
  3. Effective communication, influencing, and coaching skills with individuals at all levels
