We are seeking to hire a Material Sampling Coordinator to join our Quality Control team…

The Material Sampling Coordinator team and will perform inspection and sampling of raw materials, intermediates, finished products, and cleaned equipment for the Analytical Sciences Laboratories.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

  • Perform sampling and visual inspection of materials and products according to current SOP guidelines.
  • Perform swab/rinse sample collection for the analytical departments.
  • Perform room/equipment visuals for quality release.
  • Coordinate shipping of material samples with Warehouse personnel as needed.
  • Follow procedures outlined in standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Follow good manufacturing practices (GMP) and use good documentation practices (GDP).
  • Mentor and train employees on the sampling and cleaning procedures.
  • Interfaces with the following departments: Analytical Science Divisions, Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Quality Assurance.
  • Observes all safety procedures and regulations.
  • Assists in the laboratory with stocking inventory and other routine lab maintenance tasks as required.
  • Other job-related tasks as required

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree in a natural science; 1 year pharmaceutical industry experience or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse equipment, instrumentation, safety procedures and practices.
  • Working knowledge of current cGMP’s and GDP
  • High degree of independence and problem-solving skills, works well without supervision.
  • Confidentiality required due to access to written procedures regarding testing and manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of aseptic technique is a plus.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment used for sample weighing.
  • Ability to read and understand a safety data sheet (SDS).
  • Ability to use a rolling pallet jack for drum transfer to and from the sampling booth.
  • Ability to use a sampling thief (compartmental and composite).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications


Physical Demands:

The employee is required to stand, walk, push, pull, twist, reach overhead, and bend to the floor, occasionally move items or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally required to climb ladders and/or steps to reach equipment.

Visual Ability: Requires reading precision measuring equipment such as balances. Must be able to observe fine details to identify foreign particulates when sampling.

Olfactory Ability: Must have a sense of smell to detect odors of unacceptable compounds and/or mixtures. Additionally, cannot have a high sensitivity to harsh smells of solvents or materials. Must have an ability to breathe in a respirator and pass a fit test when hired.

Manual Dexterity: Must have steady hands and good physical coordination to remove drum seals, swab equipment, and transfer material.

Hearing Ability: Must be able to hear alarms and detect machine sounds and malfunctioning equipment to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.

Working Conditions: The employee may be required to wear personal protective equipment during certain phases of the operation; the employee is subject to high noise levels from operating machinery; skin exposure to oils, vapors, and a variety of chemicals. Employees are required to wear gowning materials and wear different types of respirators to avoid breathing exposure to hazardous particulates and vapors. In order to properly fit respirators, facial hair must be removed to perform this job. Any employee whose position requires exposure to these conditions receives training in Hazardous Communication Standards and use of mandatory personnel protective equipment. Employee is required to wear such approved personal protective equipment whenever thus exposed. Engineering controls are in place to minimize or eliminate exposure to these conditions where applicable.
