SUMMARY

The Manager, Maintenance is responsible for the efficient, effective, and safe operation and up-keep of all production and utility equipment throughout the facility. This role is responsible for the functioning of the general maintenance, organization, and coordination of the shop and field activities including: installation, repair, inspection, fabrication, movement, and maintenance for all Facilities, Utilities, and Process machinery while ensuring compliance to cGMPs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and leads all Facilities and Maintenance activities. Plans and schedules work distribution and load, supervises activities of technicians and contractors in various craft and trade shops to ensure compliance and on time completion.
  • Supervises all Maintenance and Facilities Department personnel.
  • Optimizes manufacturing and R& D equipment performance and utilization.
  • Manages, and controls Maintenance budgets and select project budgets.
  • System Matter Expert (SME) for all Preventative Maintenance electronic programs (CMMS) and reporting.
  • Develops, updates, and implements predictive and preventive maintenance programs and SOPs.
  • Ensures compliance to cGMP and EH& S guidelines and policies including site PSM processes.
  • Produces value-added results through effective recruitment, delegation, performance management, training and development of employees in the following: Facilities, Utilizes, and Process maintenance, Operation of Utilities, Electrical, Site Services
  • Manages onsite Contractors and activities to ensure safe work practices and compliance with all site cGMP requirements.
  • Maintain, implement and evaluate site contractor agreements and annual services.
  • Ensure all annual services are completed for all critical safety systems such as fire & and equipment certifications.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g Manufacturing, QA/QC, Validation, R& D) to implement site changes.
  • Promote and ensure implementation of cost control, quality improvement, and safety programs.
  • Establishes training programs or policy to make sure technicians continue to improve technical skills and stay current with SOPs.
  • Works on special assignments and other activities as required


REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years experience in manufacturing operations, engineering, or management, preferably in the pharmaceutical, chemical or similar industries.
  • Minimum of Associate's Degree or some technical schooling beyond high school
  • Formal people management experience required
  • Experience with solvent/hazardous based processing preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to coordinate, contribute to and work within a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Able to prioritize duties and manage multiple projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in and around solvent based systems.
  • Ability to read and understand P& ID drawings and schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of AUTOCAD and other design software preferred.

  • Occasionally move items or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds – potential to handle heavier materials with mechanical assistance.
  • Occasionally required to climb ladders and/or steps to reach equipment.
  • Reading precision measuring equipment, machine dials, gages, and thermometers; must be able to observe fine details utilizing a microscope.
