JOB SUMMARY

The Director I, Director Materials Sourcing is expected to conduct sourcing, negotiation and procurement activities for direct materials and services in support of Adare’s production and development activities. This Director I is responsible for maximizing value through the supplier base in support of all production demand as well as research & development projects and alternate source projects. Develops, deploys, and drives the strategic plan for the ADARE direct materials spend, across multiple North American Sites. Work with Finance, Production, Development, Quality, Commercial, Supply Chain & Procurement to meet operational and strategic goals both short and long term.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

  • In this leadership role, you will lead and facilitate the strategic sourcing process, including negotiations and contract management, supplier management, and value creation (cost savings, working capital improvements, vendor managed inventory, supplier innovation)
  • Identify new and alternate sources of direct materials and services in support of all development activities.
  • Work with Suppliers, Quality and Development in developing, where necessary, product to meet needed specifications and practices.
  • Work with Purchasing, Quality and Project Management to develop an alternate source of supply and existing supplier strategy in support of corporate goals.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and concise reporting on development activities.
  • Works effectively under deadlines.
  • Acts as the company’s representative by showing respect and being ambassador for the established beliefs and behaviors of the Company. Works in a cooperative manner with managers, supervisors, coworkers, customers, suppliers and the public.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of methods, procedures and regulations necessary for the smooth operation of the business.
  • Completes assigned tasks in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness.
  • Upholds Company policies, including the Professional Conduct Policy and Prohibition Against Harassment Policy, and the Business Ethics and Conduct Code
  • Works in a cooperative manner with managers, supervisors, coworkers, customers and the public.
  • Manage and negotiate supply agreements to drive lower costs, establish rebate programs and improve payment and delivery terms.
  • Develop business continuity and risk contingency programs for key areas including the development of secondary and alternative suppliers, working closely with customers as needed for buy-in and the internal teams to drive validation work
  • Leads negotiations and contracting to obtain maximum value and performance against project objectives and defined performance criteria (adherence to schedule and specifications, cost, etc.)
  • Facilitates all purchasing and supply chain planning activities required for given projects and monitors supplier performance against deliverables.
  • Regularly market tests spend through benchmarking and competitive events (RFQs), as part of category strategy development or as opportunities present themselves.
  • Drive Vendor Management to ensure the highest level of quality and service.
  • Lead, manage and align the Global procurement initiatives for ADARE to define procurement strategies that are industry leading and harmonize across the ADARE network.
  • Partner with key functions in all sites, including finance, estimating, business development, and operations to drive results that align to the site’s goals and objectives.
  • Develop innovative and bold commodity strategies to drive savings in new ways while managing, engaging and promoting continuous cost reduction and quality improvement efforts.
  • Proactively manage procurement projects through prioritization and active communication.
  • Be a liaison between vendors, business units, and operations teams, to deal with material or service issues in a timely fashion.
  • Leads the development and execution of sourcing strategies and policies for given spend categories.
  • Drive vendor management to ensure the highest level of quality and service.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including advanced skills in Excel (Pivot tables, V-lookup, Macros, If Statements, Formulas).
  • Ability to coordinate, contribute to and work within a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Able to prioritize duties and manage multiple projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess the ability to take initiative to complete assignments and job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to accommodate up to 10% travel.
