Engineering/Maintenance Supervisor, you will:
• Be A Point Person - help your manager run the maintenance department including overseeing the staff which maintains the physical operation of the hotel including building structure, fixtures, refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, water treatment, electrical systems and grounds. It is your job to support the mission of a safe, secure and comfortable guest environment from a physical plant perspective, as well as a positive guest and employee experience.
• Walk the Talk - in you role, you need to be walking your hotel every day - getting out and inspecting the areas those you supervisor are responsible for and training or retraining the team when things don't meet expectations. You understand that protecting the asset for investors and owners as well as guests and coworkers is a priority so overseeing the maintenance, service and repair of the hotel and its equipment is a priority you take seriously.
• Be a Leader - help create an environment that's engaging and one where talented people want to join, learn, do their best, and advance.
• Be a Safety & Security Agent - follow your hotel's established safety and security policies & procedures. Anticipate problems and call management as needed.
Job Requirements The Class I Engineer is a highly skilled maintenance technician responsible for performing advanced maintenance and repair tasks throughout the hotel and resort property. This role requires extensive technical knowledge and hands-on experience with HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, and general building operations. The Class I Engineer ensures that all facilities are maintained in excellent working order to support guest comfort, safety, and satisfaction.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Lead or assist in major maintenance projects and renovations.
- Respond to guest and staff service requests promptly and professionally.
- Perform routine inspections of systems and equipment; document findings and complete preventive maintenance tasks.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, codes, and procedures.
- Maintain proper operation of fire safety systems, boilers, pumps, elevators, and emergency generators.
- Mentor and support lower-level engineers and technicians.
- Maintain inventory of parts and tools; order supplies as needed.
- Maintain clear documentation of repairs, inspections, and equipment status.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors when required.
Qualifications: - Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering or facility maintenance, preferably in a hotel or resort environment.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems.
- EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead technical projects.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
Physical Requirements: - Must be able to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs and handle heavy equipment and tools.
- Must be able to work in tight spaces, on ladders, rooftops, and in extreme temperatures (hot/cold/mechanical rooms).
- Must be able to visually and aurally detect irregularities in equipment and systems.
- Manual dexterity required for using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Must be able to work on-call, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Work Environment: - Hotel and resort facilities, including guest areas, back-of-house, outdoor spaces, and mechanical rooms.
- Exposure to loud noise, dust, chemicals, and varying weather conditions.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required when applicable.
