About the role:

At Vantage, the AVP, Underwriting - Financial Institutions is a member of our Financial Institutions team. This role is responsible for underwriting new and renewal Financial Institutions business according to assigned authority level and established guidelines. This position provides a unique opportunity to be part of a team building a profitable book of business within a successful and growing organization. This role reports to SVP of Financial Institutions and is a hybrid opportunity based in Vantage’s New York City (midtown) office.

The base salary expectation for this role is between $160, 000 and $175, 000. The actual base salary for the position may be higher, commensurate with the candidate's experience. Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Review submissions to ensure alignment with risk appetite and business strategy.
  • Generate new business by working with brokers and clients to develop innovative ways to deploy Financial Institutions products.
  • Effectively market to our brokers nationwide, leveraging and cultivating new and existing relationships.
  • Analyze complex risks and unusual transaction structures thoroughly and effectively.
  • Perform underwriting activities associated with managing all underwriting transactions, service standards, compliance rules, and documentation.
  • Demonstrate a customer service mindset by proactively engaging internal and external contacts.
  • Collaborate and correspond with internal and external contacts to achieve a high level of service and meet client expectations.
  • Interact directly with various business partners and internal departments.
  • Meet departmental service standards in place for each process.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned under minimal supervision.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline required.
  • 6-10 years of Financial Institutions Underwriting experience preferred.
  • Established network of broker relationships and strong reputation within the Financial Institutions network.
  • Deep Financial Institutions underwriting and product acuity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to process and adapt to change in a rapid growth and data-driven environment.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 25%).
  • Vantage associates are expected to be curious, thrifty, and resourceful to manage through the unknowns of growing a specialty re/insurance business.
