For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $95, 000 - $122, 000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Controls Engineer DetailsThe Controls Engineer designs systems of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls for machines and equipment, utilizing knowledge of electrical engineering, PLC programming, and diagrams and schematics. This position supports the development of new products, pre-sale technical support, product application inquiries, and quality control.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide guidance and direction for the electrical and controls engineering team.
- Plan and program logic control systems for functions such as sequence, temperature, pressure, flow, voltage, current, and timing.
- Illustrate and describe the concept, installation, and maintenance details of component functionality and system sequence of operation.
- Review schematics with customers to answer questions during pre- and post-sale of products.
- Confer with assemblers and wirers to resolve problems regarding the building of control systems.
- Prepare all documentation necessary for production and customer support (proposals, quotes, drawings, BOM, schematics, manuals, technical instructions, etc.).
- Work with suppliers and outside engineering consultants to resolve technical and supply issues, improve system features and capabilities, and investigate sources of special equipment, materials, or devices. Obtain quotes, prepare requisitions, and qualify supplier components.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Working knowledge of HVAC control systems and communication protocols preferred.
- 5-10 years of related experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Strong mathematical, electro-mechanical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form to internal and external customers and practice discretion when communicating appropriate information to various audiences.
- Effectively perform assignments with minimal supervision.
- Proficient with MS Office 365 for drafting proposals, creating tables, charts, and inputting data into templates.
- Knowledge of specifications, codes, and standards used in commercial HVAC and datacenter industries such as UL, ETL, NEC, IEC, NFPA, etc.
- Electro-mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with components, piping systems, pumps, motors, controls, or other industrial equipment.
- Experience with liquid- and air-cooling systems for commercial buildings and datacenter systems is a plus.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks is a plus.
- Physical Requirements/Abilities
- Office environment working primarily at a desk on a computer.
- Ability to sit for long periods.
- May require minimal lifting of thirty pounds or less.
- May require navigating stairs and maneuvering through the plant environment for guided tours.
- Regular travel required.
