Position Title: Business Analyst

Salary Range: $75, 000 - $90, 000

Position Summary:

The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for a Business Analyst in its Information Technology Bureau. IT maintains the Office's technology and data infrastructure and builds applications to support all the Offices' technology needs. In this role, you will be responsible for requirements gathering, planning, and organization, as it relates to the implementation of IT software development projects. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, and interpersonal skills, as the ideal candidate will effectively translate the needs of non-technical end-users to a technical audience, and to translate the challenges and limitations of technical work to non-technical users. This is a highly-visible position that will interact with staff at all levels.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide Development team with requirements gathering for new applications or enhancements.
  • Function as the subject matter expert on the business of the Office.
  • Serve as a resource to IT teams involved in all aspects of the development effort by acting as the POC/Coordinator for the IT Teams responsible for documentation efforts, quality control and UI/UX design efforts.
  • Serving as point of contact for teams outside of IT to ensure that team development remains in synergy with the reporting needs of the Office.
  • Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project design.
  • Serve as a key stakeholder in the efforts to improve communication between IT, and non-technical end users at DANY as it relates to development efforts.
  • Successfully engage with technical and non-technical staff to develop and improve upon software applications and tools.
  • Keep abreast of new tools, trends, and best practices in product development.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • At least three (3) years of requirements gathering experience overseeing technical product development.
  • Experience facilitating communication between technical experts and non-technical end users.
  • Interest in public policy and a desire to tackle complex issues, including public safety, justice, and equity.
  • Must be able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in teams and collaborating on projects.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented, self-motivated, highly organized, resourceful, and reliable.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Project and Visio
  • Experience writing detailed Software Requirements Specification (SRS Document)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 - 5 years proven Information Technology experience.
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
  • PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PBA)

Educational Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree strongly preferred (ideally in computer science, engineering, or related field of study).

Commitment:
  • A two (2) year commitment to the hiring unit.

  • Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least 1 year in their current unit/bureau/department and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum and additional qualifications of the position.
