Job Overview: Reporting to the Vice President of the East Region of LGUS, the Area Sales Director is responsible for delivering the assigned merchant area annual business plan results related to growth, price, revenue and margin. This individual manages a professional sales team of twelve people and is accountable for over $500 MM in sales annually. Primary Responsibilities: - Provide strategic direction for merchant product sales by guiding the sales team, leveraging experience to make effective tactical decisions, and utilizing business development, marketing, product management, and other resources to drive profitable regional growth. - Develop and execute sales strategies, policies, processes, and procedures that support the achievement of business objectives. - Establish clear goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the sales team and conduct regular performance reviews to drive accountability and results. - Ensure profitable sales growth by evaluating account plans, assessing sales opportunities, and utilizing cost-to-serve models. - Support the sales team in identifying supply options, developing strong value propositions, preparing proposals, and negotiating customer contracts. - Oversee the development and execution of account renewal strategies to maximize retention and shareholder value. - Ensure achievement of Linde's preferred contractual terms and conditions in both new and renewal business opportunities. - Manage sales expenses and maintain alignment with corporate expectations. - Serve as the escalation point for resolving customer issues, challenges, disputes, and emerging opportunities throughout the sales cycle. - Build and strengthen customer relationships by effectively engaging internal Linde resources and leadership. - Provide senior-level leadership for the sales function, integrating multiple disciplines across complex and broad scopes of responsibility. - Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team of sales professionals, drive results primarily through effective people leadership. - Operate with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining alignment with organizational goals and priorities. - Cultivate and manage relationships with senior leaders inside and outside the organization to influence key business decisions. - Address diverse array of demands while maintaining clear control of objectives and priorities. - Collaborate with senior management to define long-term objectives for the sales organization. - Create and communicate a compelling vision and purpose for the sales area that aligns with broader company goals. - Engage with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders on matters of significant business impact.
